A NEW PARADIGM IN AMATEUR ATHLETICS
The NotYetPro Foundation provides amateur athletes with exposure to sports opportunities, competition, and the ability to promote themselves. We are also engaged in the learn to swim movement.
The NotYetPro Foundation’s main tenet is EXPOSURE, primarily through the vehicle of amateur sports, but not only through the traditional outlets offered to inner city aspiring athletes. Basketball, football, track, baseball, are not the only sports where one can excel, especially in a city as international and diverse as Washington, D.C. In our diverse and international city, there are endless opportunities to gain exposure to different communities, cultures, and their sports.
NotYetPro is engaged in the learn to swim campaign in the communities we serve through our NotYetPro Swim School. This ties into our mission of access and exposure. Without the skill of swimming, entire communities miss out on a plethora of aquatic activities and sports, not just competitive swimming. Swimming is one of the few competitive sports that translates well to lifelong health and fitness. And far too often certain communities are priced out of the option to simply swim in a pool, let alone take swim lessons. Through partnerships with aquatic centers, we will expand NotYetPro Swim School’s reach to Washington, D.C. youth.
